| | Alerts are delivered to desktop applications via standard RSS feeds, but more features are available using a set of 3 specific XML files:
 The alert engine optimizes bandwidth using a visioning XML file.
Active alerts are published via an XML file.
Archived or inactive alerts are stored in an additional optional XML file.

This XML file contains a version number. When this version number is increased, the alert feeds should be downloaded by the client.
Where nnn is a number to be incremented when an alert is added or updated.
